Airwrap ID: A review

Natural hair type: Curly-wavy (3A – 3B) What do I use the Airwrap for: Smoothing, Smooth wavy bouncy hair Previously owned: Dyson Complete Long for 1.2 years (Had to sell it because I was moving from India to US)

I recently switched from the Dyson Airwrap Complete Long to the new Dyson Airwrap ID, and after using both, I can confidently say that the two are almost identical in terms of performance and general design.

The key difference is the introduction of the “ID” feature, which, while innovative, might not be a must-have for everyone.

The ID function automates parts of the styling process, particularly when curling. After setting up your preferences via the app, it takes care of the wrapping, curling, and even the cool shot with minimal manual intervention. For people who find it tricky to multitask while styling, this could be a helpful addition. I personally enjoyed the hands-free element!

In terms of performance, there’s no significant improvement over the Complete Long. My curly-wavy hair styled just as well as before, using the same range of attachments. I appreciate that the smart tech doesn’t compromise the tool’s overall effectiveness, but if you’re someone who already feels comfortable with the manual process, you might find the ID feature unnecessary.

One thing to note is the price—it’s the same as the Complete Long (atleast at the Dyson store) the “upgrade” is mostly a convenience feature. If you’re already an Airwrap user, I wouldn’t rush to upgrade unless you’re curious about the smart tech. I purchased mine after selling mine in India due to the move to the U.S. Since I was in the market for a Dyson again, I decided to upgrade to the ID, kind of like getting the latest model of a phone.

Ultimately, the Airwrap ID is a solid product, and I’d recommend it for those who want a more intuitive, “set it and forget it” experience. That said, if you already own the Complete Long, don’t feel pressured to make the switch unless you’re after the latest gadget.

PS: The number of attachments that you get with the ID are different. I personally don’t mind it because I thought the fast dryer was a good one to have. The large voluminzing brush was better than the one I had in complete long. Also, I bought my product in a Dyson store and the sales associate threw in a firm smoothing brush, a diffuser and an extra paddle brush for free (so I feel like I got a great deal!)

I am happy to answer any questions about the ID! Hope this review helps! 🙂
