The fragrance that made me fall in love with tart cherry notes after years of finding them to be juvenile/too much – Afnan Modest Deux pour femme🍷
This is the ultimate feminine fragrance for the night if you are on a budget. I said what I said! If you are tired of the regular gourmands/fruity florals/aromatics, please find a sample of Modest Deux… you are in for a delicious surprise!
Modest Deux opens with a beautiful chocolatey note, but not the boring ones, no ma’am! The presentation is the first thing that would clue you in – this is not a scent planning a quiet arrival.
✨ The first sniff will remind you of a chocolate bar filled with a beautiful cherry syrup. Not too sweet, ever so slightly tart, and no bitterness to take you by surprise. Just the opening notes of raspberry, strawberry, cherry and dark chocolate coming together in a stunning , sensual first impression. There’s a distinct syrupy aspect to it that I find very enjoyable 🍫 🍒
✨ The cherry-like opening soon follows a vanillic heart. Remaining true to the first impressions, the vanilla is ever so slightly spiced to balance out the sweetness, staying far away from gourmand territory.
✨ The listed base notes here are patchouli, musk and gardenia. Honestly, I never quite smell them distinctly, just a musky floral drydown made aromatic by the patchouli.
Patchouli is one of my least favourite notes and yet, I can’t quite imagine Modest Deux without it – keeps the scent profile beautifully anchored to a mature territory.
🎬 This one’s a scent for a night on the town, with or without your girlfriends. Most suitable for slightly cooler weather, but honestly, any outdoor evening works just fine.
Modest Deux also has a tendency to play a game of hide and seek with the weather – different notes in the profile ‘pop’ in different temperatures!
❇️ Performance: Modest Deux needs to mature for a while, but expect anywhere between 6 to 8 hours once that is done. Not a beast mode performer, this one’s meant for your inner circle alone 🥂
