Gucci – Jackie 1961 medium shoulder bag review and what fits

I wanted to give this bag a little review and show what fits in it. When I was looking up bags, I was very interested in the Vogue What’s in my Purse, especially Vogue Korea ones, but some of them are very obviously rigged. So! Please forgive my crap pictures. I don’t usually take pictures for social media.

I chose this bag because I wanted a black crossbody bag with minimal logos. No satchels, quilting, flaps for me, but I still wanted a structured smooth leather bag.

Medium Jackie 1961

I use it with the crossbody strap, and it looks pretty nice. Feels fine too. I’m 5’8” and keep the strap at almost max length, and it hits me at the waist. Honestly, it looks way better if you carry it as a shoulder bag, but I need free hands.

The leather is, honestly, awesome. I get why people say Gucci does leather well. It’s not as thick as Coach or Cambridge Satchel bags, but somehow feels sturdier. My Cambridge Satchel bag had thick leather, but was not nearly as stiff feeling as this. It’s not that this Jackie bag is stuff, it just feels like .. the leather is less likely to bend oddly.

The bag doesn’t gap open terribly from the top when it’s closed. I can wiggle out my wallet and stick it back in without opening it. If I’m worried about pickpockets, I would bury the wallet under a pouch and swing my purse to my front. My problem was that when the purse is closed, you can’t fit anything chubby in the middle without warping the front of the purse. It made me worried that I was going to wreck the shape, so I make sure my chubby pouches are on the side.

what fits

Yeah, I love chubby things. So, Left to right is where I pack things.

Left: ID holder, reusable shopping bag, house key, bag of a pen, an eyebrow pencil, and a pad. I think my transit card is there too.

Middle: Puni Labo small cat pouch (coffee candies, cough drops, swiss army knife), box of bandages and ointment, Coach small wallet (shrank wallets to fit in this purse), sunglasses, loose coughdrop I need to put in the pouch.

Right: Puni Labo large cat pouch. So Chubby. (3 lip balms, travel moisturizer, travel sun screen, pill box, blush/compact)

Not pictured: my phone.

Review? I love this bag. It’s probably going to be my only luxury bag. I don’t think about handbags as much as I used to, so that’s nice! My husband is hoping it’s my last handbag purchase forever, because the goal was to find a daily bag that I loved and would last a long time. I feel this is probably likely.
