Leonardo DiCaprio showed a playful side of himself at the 2026 Golden Globes.
During a commercial break, the “One Battle After Another” actor was seen speaking to someone nearby, who wasn’t shown on-camera. During the interaction, which was captured without audio, DiCaprio was seen smiling, mouthing words and making hand gestures.
In the comments of a TikTok shared by the Golden Globes, a fan joked that DiCaprio “created (a) hundred memes in 30sec” in the video. Many said the clip reminded them of the actor’s viral “Django Unchained” meme where his character laughs while taking a sip of wine.
The clip showed a new side to DiCaprio, fans said. “Leo in ‘public’ and leo in private such a different vibe … he should open up more :)),” a TikTok user wrote.
Others picked up on his animated facial expressions. Someone wrote, “Dude just showed his acting range while sitting on the table at the Globes 😂.”
As for what he was saying? It remains a mystery — though people think, by lip reading, he referencing K-pop. The movie “KPOP Demon Hunters” won best original song for “Golden” and best animated feature.
“Translation — ‘I was watching you with the K pop thing, you were like, who’s that, is that, Oh, K pop,'” a fan guessed.
At the 2026 Golden Globes, DiCaprio was nominated in the category of best actor in a movie (comedy or musical) for his work in “One Battle After Another.” He ended up losing to Timothée Chalamet for his work in “Marty Supreme.”
The “Wolf of Wall Street” actor also got roasted by host Nikki Glaser in her monologue, especially when she poked fun at DiCaprio’s dating history.
“What a career you’ve had, countless iconic performances, you’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30,” Glaser joked.
She immediately apologized and explained why she felt she had to joke about it.
“Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap, I tried not to,” Glaser said. “But we don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else … I searched, the most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat in 1991. Is your favorite food still ‘pasta, pasta and more pasta’?”
DiCaprio confirmed that it was.
